Middle Tennessee Natural Gas offers a voluntary program designed to improve the quality of life in the communities it serves. It is known as Project Hometown Help
Customers who participate in the program will find an automatic round-up of their bill to the next highest whole dollar amount. Customers who are on levelized billing will have their calculations made on the actual amount that was used, not on the levelized amount. This calculation will be shown on the bill as “Hometown Help.” The funds collected in this method will be used as authorized by law to:
- Advance education
- Assist economic development
- Promote local charities
- Relief to disabled and elderly for payment of natural gas bills
The funds collected are disbursed under the guidance of the Board of Commissioners of the Middle Tennessee Natural Gas Utility District. The average customer contributes less than six dollars per year through this program. However, if all customers participated in the program more than $250,000 could be raised for the benefit of our hometowns each year!
Participation is not mandatory. Customers may opt out at anytime. You may opt out online using the online “Opt Out Form”.
Customers who opted out of participation in the past may also opt back in at any time. You may begin rounding up your gas bill to the nearest dollar to help your community by using the online “Opt In Form”.
This program has had a positive impact on the hometowns we serve. It has focused on our schools, those unable to afford continued natural gas service, the local charities in our area and improving the likelihood of recruiting and retaining good jobs for our hometowns. Please give “Project Hometown Help” your support.
